Finally we will release Berndsens great debut album „Lover In The Dark“ outside of Iceland.

People in Japan can be very happy because the album is already available on the 2 November 2011 before it will be released on the 11 November 2011 in the rest of world.

Of course we try to make everybody happy and therefore we made a very special edition of the album with 2 brand new unreleased tracks.

The project Berndsen was developed together with the Icelandic electro-legend Hermigervill. They got their hands on early 1980s synthesizers and drum machines and created the album “Lover in the Dark”, which contains beautiful, icy pop songs reminiscent of OMD & Duran Duran.

Tracks like Supertime and Lover in the Dark, both of them have received much attention and also the music videos are spreading like fire on Blogs and sites like Facebook and YouTube.

Svavar’s performances have been acclaimed as ‘beautifully melancholic songs sung with the voice of an angel, an extraordinary melodic sensibility, and an ability to win over any audience with his personality and demeanour’. An Icelandic journalist has also described Svavar’s music as a ‘haunting insight into the human condition’.

In addition to performing his songs solo acoustic, Svavar also performs them with his band Hraun (Icelandic for lava); a dynamic musical act signed to Dimma Records and whose profile is rapidly growing in Iceland and Europe.

Am 25. September 2010 tobt die Berlin Independent Night über die beste Ausgehmeile der Hauptstadt. Rund um das Schlesische Tor in Kreuzberg werden Lido, Magnet, Comet und L.U.X. mit handverlesenen Bands und den besten DJs der Stadt zu einer einzigen großen Party. Ob überdrehter Elektro-Pop von FM Belfast, wilder Indie-Rock von den Überfliegern Wolf Parade, Murders sanfte Lagerfeuerromantik oder kühler Synthie- Pop von Teenagers In Tokyo – die Berlin Independent Night 2010 versammelt etablierte Acts und hoffnungsvolle Newcomer, die das Prädikat „Independent“ auch tatsächlich verdienen. 13 Mal Musik fernab von Mainstream-Schubladen, unabhängig, eigenständig, authentisch und trotzdem mit genug Pop im Ärmel, um die Massen zu begeistern. Die süße Qual der Wahl hat das Publikum, denn mit nur einem Ticket (VVK: 12 Euro/ AK: 15 Euro) verschafft es sich Zugang zu allen vier teilnehmenden Locations: „Sehe ich mir jetzt Cosmo Jarvis im Lido an? Wenn an jedem zweiten Sonntag im Monat die interessantesten Musiker der Stadt beim Sonntags-Matinée im SRS aufspielen, wird Frühstück als Komposition und musikalische Klänge als kulinarische Köstlichkeiten erfahrbar.

Den musikalischen Teil dieses einzigartigen Sonntags-Amüsements übernehmen diesmal sechs junge Männer aus Island, der Insel der Vulkanausbrüche und der langen Winter, wo Musiker wie Björk oder Sigur Ròs normalerweise sonderbar entrückte Musik komponieren, die einen selten fröhlich stimmt oder gar zum tanzen taugt. Who New aus Reykjavik sind da anders. Ihre Songs platzen fast vor lauter Enthusiasmus, überschwänglichen Gesängen, groovenden Rhythmen und klingen so unbeschwert wie ein Sonntagmorgen. Ihr Debütalbum „Bits and pieces of a major spectacle“ ist das melodieverliebteste und ekstatischste Stück Indierock, das in den letzten Jahren südlich des nördlichen Polarkreises zu hören war.
